Finding The Try

What a gentle man! Mark Rashid's DVD 'Finding the Try' highlights the sensitivity and awareness that makes 'pressure-and-release' training gentle, kind and educational for the horse. Mark is responding with a release of pressure for the smallest response that the horse makes to the aids that he uses. His timing and clarity are excellent about what he is working to achieve.

Mark is an american  cowboy which means there are fundamental training differences about how a horse 'should go' or respond to the seat, leg or rein which is quite different to our European style of riding concepts. However, he cannot be surpassed in his message of helping the horse to make the right decision and help the horse to find his way to answer the question. If pressure and release is to be employed then this is the way to go about doing it!

This video remains a useful resource material for us to reflect upon how we 'aid' the horse and how much sensitivity we are employing; a useful insight into the gentle use of pressure-release without having to 'up the anti'. A must see for any rider who cares about communication with horses.
