Training At Liberty

This workshop is about exploring the building blocks and groundwork for developing a 'friends' relationship with your horse through play, understanding, trust, communication and mutual consent and to work at liberty with your horse.

By taking a look at the different types of training methods and what positive reinforcement training means we will see how to develop our own liberty training on a day-to-day basis. By having a clear intention of your goals you will be able to relax and enjoy your horse in a non-goal oriented way but making real progress in both developing your relationship and gymnasticing your horse.

The Somatic Rider

In this workshop we will work with your posture, balance, suppleness and the core connection of the pelvis as the centre of connection to your horse. Absorbing the movement of the horse while remaining free of tension requires balance and tone but not restriction and tightness.

By working on the ground we will take some of the useful insights and principles taken from t'ai chi & qigong practises to experience energy flow and movement. Plus we will explore core muscle strength and release to keep the hip free, open and absorbing.

This will be a fun day to explore riding posture, breath and alignment. We will be focusing on listening through the seat to dissolve tension in both horse and rider and find out how to engage your own balance, deportment and posture to encourage the horse to find his own which he will automatically mirror back to the rider. Magic and fun!
