Massage is a time honoured treatment which can be highly effective for horses benefiting your horse's muscles and his subsequent movement whilst at the same time providing the horse with release from stress and emotional tension. A good massage therapist is able to gain much valuable feedback about how the horse is posturing and using himself mechanically and to alert you to potential problems. Jo's approach is to consider beyond the massage session and at how the horse may be helped to overcome long term and chronic tensions. Massage can be a good short term intervention for relief but continual postural faults may need an alternative approach to re-patterning movement and carriage. ESMA trained therapists are recognised as being highly trained sports massage equine therapists who have had a rigorous training in a massage techniques, anatomy and physiology. They will liaise with your vet and can advise you on the individual findings of each horse. Jo is ESMA trained and registered.
