You can see the heat pattern relating to the pressure and descension of the pedal bone in the hoof capsule.

Thermographic imaging can be a convenient method for assessing progress through the acute and recovery phase and track positive and negative changes without the need to transport the horse any more than is necessary. Thermal imaging may prove popular in observing ongoing changes in the horse's feet and alert the owner to the onset of problems.
